I Really Am Horrible At Updating
I've gotten really bad about updating, but then life has gotten really complicated.
I did finish the 50,000 words for the month of November with 5 minutes to go. I am, however, not even a third of the way through the story. Makes me wonder why I'm doing this to myself, but then I remind myself that it's because I enjoy it.
My study abroad application is due on Wednesday, and the only part of it I can't do myself is the only part hanging me up: one of my letters of recommendation has yet to arrive. Gah! It's driving me minorly up a wall.
Fortunately the UK year program isn't very competitive and there are more slots than students in it every year.
I'm looking at going to the University of London, Queen Mary. Aside from the awesome name (I have a thing about the name Mary; it must have been my name in a past life or five), it's in London's more multicultural and bohemian East End. My best friend's school has an exchange program there as well, so we've decided to try to get housing in the same building and pretend like we don't know each other and frighten the housemates with how quickly we come to be friends. It's going to be fun.
On a more practical level, its Linguistics department (my major) is consistently ranked among the top three Linguistics programs in the UK. Lest I forget my purposes in frolicking abroad, I am supposed to go there to study - NOT frolic with the local boys. Although a fair amount of that is probably going to happen as well.
I <3 British men and British accents. It's my one failing in life. :-P
I went and declared my major this afternoon. That went surprisingly well, actually. Tomorrow I have to drop in to my College's advising and get them to approve my course load. I also need to get my passport application filed and hunt down my last letter (hopefully it's in the mail right now). That letter is just driving me up a wall, can't you tell?
SO yeah.
